St. Croix Electric Cooperative will sponsor up to SIX eligible students at the 2024 Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association Youth Leadership Conference July 16-18 (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) at the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Menomonie.
At this dynamic three-day event youth leaders from across Wisconsin develop their leadership skills while learning about the purpose, operation, and scope of cooperative businesses.
Participants at this by-teens, for-teens cooperative leadership conference planned and developed by a youth board elected at the previous year’s event can:
· See what makes the cooperative business model different and successful, then apply this knowledge to fun and challenging cooperative activities.
· Identify and learn how to develop their own leadership skills.
· Discuss cooperative careers with industry professionals.
· Be entertained and challenged by highly acclaimed motivational speakers who understand teens and talk about topics that are relevant in their lives.
High school students who are active in their school and community and whose parents belong to St. Croix Electric Co-op are encouraged to apply. Many past attendees have received SCEC scholarships. Students elected to the Youth Leadership Board are eligible for a sponsorship to the national Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, DC the next summer.
The first step for students is to fill out the online WECA Youth Leadership Application found at the bottom of the SCEC YLC page. After review by SCEC staff further information will be emailed to the student.
