SCEC POSITION DESCRIPTION
GIS / STAKING TECHNICIAN
CLASSIFICATION: 1,000 hours
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for efficient operation, implementation, and maintenance of the cooperative’s Geographical Information System (GIS). Assists in overseeing the asset mapping process with GMS, entering data into the NISC mapping system and making adjustments on an as needed basis. Also, assists the Construction Services Coordinator with minor field staking and design of new services on the system during the construction season.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position will report to the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Continually assists in the maintenance of the Cooperative’s Geographical Information System (GIS) by obtaining, updating, and implementing all information pertaining to staking data, system asset mapping and adjustments made throughout the construction season.
- Updates the GIS system with daily transformer, meter and equipment changes, including photographs.
- Assists with daily staking of new services, service changes, projects and data entry with the Construction Services Coordinator.
- Assists with data analytics, rate and program design or other needs as assigned.
- Proficiently operates a personal computer, plotter, printer, and copy machine. Efficiently uses Windows based software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel and Word).
- The GIS Staking Technician shall be required to perform any other duties assigned in order to fulfill the objectives of the cooperative.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information. A basic understanding of programming and of technological advances in computer hardware and software, server software, and databases.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch/stoop/squat, lift and push, twist upper body, bend, reach and stretch. Requires good finger dexterity and ability to perform close work. Quite often duties may be performed outside with exposure to weather extremes. Job may require work outside of normal business hours.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
