Before you install solar panels, you’ll need to submit a SCEC Distributed Generation Application in order to connect to our electric grid. Unless you plan to self-install the equipment, your contractor will submit the application on your behalf.
Once approved by SCEC, the system can be installed.
Steps to Applying for Solar Connection to Electric Grid
Required Documentation
- SCEC Distributed Generation Application
- Solar Photovoltaic Supplement (click here for form)
- Distributed Generation Interconnection Agreement
- Proof of insurance ($300,000 for 20kW or less, $1000,000 for over 20kw up to 40kW)
- One-line wiring diagram of member DG (must meet SCEC requirement).
- Electrical inspection certificate.
- Inverter and solar panel specs.
NOTE: Solar arrays do not qualify for subtractive off-peak metering. Please contact SCEC before submitting an application to discuss the requirements.
Before you complete the SCEC Distributed Generation Application, you must review the following documents:
SCEC Interconnection Guidelines (pdf)
SCEC Solar DG Guide (pdf)
Solar + Battery Line Diagram (pdf)
Solar Line Diagram (please contact SCEC at 715-796-7000 for requirements)
