St. Croix Electric Cooperative maintains nearly 800 miles of overhead lines and works on a 5-year tree trimming rotation based on groups of townships within our service territory.
A two-man crew from Zielies Tree Service takes to the air and to the ground to be sure the 15-foot Utility Maintenance Area (UMA) around the lines is clear.
Corey Norby will head the crew assigned to SCEC. An important part of Corey's job is communication with SCEC members. Although we do our best to notify members when the crew might be in their area, some are surprised, so he tries to alert property owners before trimming the trees.
