Right-of-Way Maintenance season begins May 1

Crews from Badger Unified Cooperative Services (BUCS) will be performing right-of-way maintenance work along the route of overhead powerlines in the Town of Hudson beginning May 1.

Crews will be using aerial bucket trucks and chain saws to trim, cut and remove trees within the Utility Maintenance Area (UMA). The UMA varies in width from 4 feet either side of the line for low voltage secondary wires, to 10 feet either side of three-phase power lines (those with cross arms)  and single phase lines (without cross arms) not accessible from a public road or a maintained private driveway.

Small limbs and branches cut in mowed and maintained areas will be chipped. Larger cut wood in all locations will be cut in near uniform length and either stacked or put alongside the edge of the wood line.

Crews are expected to be working in the Town of Hudson until mid-June.
