2017 St. Croix Electric Cooperative Member Tour
On Sept. 20, nearly 40 SCEC members and guests spent the day learning where some of their power comes from and what it takes to create one of the 15,500 poles on the SCEC system. The group visited the Flambeau Hydroelectric Station east of Ladysmith, which is operated by Dairyland Power Cooperative - SCEC’s wholesale power provider. After lunch at JS Supper Club west of Ladysmith (and a member of Jump River Electric Cooperative), the group visited Bell Timber in Barron, Wis. SCEC purchases red pine poles used for overhead power lines from Bell Timber. The day ended with a visit to Sunflower II before returning to the office.
Details for the 2018 Tour will be available mid-summer and in the monthly Energy Lifestyles Magazine. Questions may be directed to Communications & Events Coordinator Michele DeLong at 715-796-5613 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
