ELECTRIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES

We offer electric education programs for all ages.

Our Safety Town demonstration is modeled after a small town. The table top demonstration includes a home, substation, lake, people, and moving vehicles and is electrically wired so we can simulate dangerous situations with sparks, arcs, and pops. This interactive program is engaging to viewers of all ages, from pre-school through adult. Safety Town demonstrations are free of charge and the display is portable, so we can easily come to your club meeting or classroom! Demonstrations last about an hour.

The co-op also partners with schools to teach about electricity. Third graders throughout our service area have learned about how electricity is generated and distributed, about the importance of conservation, and about safety through classroom presentations.

Middle school science classrooms have received “Get Charged” kits that were developed in conjunction with the Discovery Channel. The kits contain teaching materials, a VHS tape, an informative CD ROM, a lesson plan, student materials, and a poster. These kits are free of charge to schools.

Excellent on-line activities are available for youth of all ages. Check out these informative and fun sites:
