SUPPORTING THE WELL-BEING OF THE ENVIRONMENT
We contribute to the health of our natural environment in a number of ways.
The electric energy we purchase from Dairyland Power Cooperative comes from environmentally friendly generating plants. Dairyland’s portfolio of generating plants includes Weston 4, an award-winning super efficient clean coal technology facility; coal fired plants recently retrofitted with state-of-the-art environmental control equipment; renewable energy facilities including wind power, landfill gas-to-energy, and animal waste-to-energy; and hydropower. Learn more about Dairyland Power’s environmental stewardship here.
Earth Day is celebrated by St. Croix Electric each year with public and member outreach programs. Recent events include contributing money and participating in the county Earth Day program, distributing free CFL bulbs to members, and free pick up of used computers for recycling. Read full articles about our efforts here.
The importance of trees and vegetation is recognized by St. Croix Electric through periodic Arbor Day activities and our commitment to provide information about healthy tree care to our members. The co-op’s professional, certified arborist is available to any member who has questions about their trees. He can be contact by e-mail. Read about our most recent Arbor Day activity here.
